Puppies are cute, and dogs eat stupid things

It’s hard to think of something cuter than puppies eating ice cream:

Now, I know people get all het up about feeding dogs things, such as ice cream, that are not that good for dogs. Even though people spend a lot of time feeding themselves things, such as ice cream, that are not that good for people, especially in the quantities which some of us may be fully capable of eating ice cream, if we bought it regularly, which we don’t. Okay, side track.
I definitely do not ENDORSE feeding dogs things that are bad for them. By the same token, as the owner of two lab mixes who have 100% labrador retriever appetites, I can confirm that these dogs are fully capable of eating unwise things in unwise quantities without any help from me apart from leaving the dogs in the same room with the things, unsupervised, for more than about 5 seconds. These unwise things include a pin cushion (when Max was a puppy), beer (any time Tango can get it – even if I am sitting right there, she will try to extend her go-go Gadget tongue to taste some beer), chocolate (Tango, any place any time), coffee (Tango, if there is milk in the coffee), and pockets (Tango, if there are or ever have been treats in the pockets and she can get them). Man, Tango, you are a monster. Max has the single stupidest eating adventure, but you win for overall consistency and tirelessness in pursuit of things you shouldn’t eat.
